Oregon and Washington State team up for annual wine tasting

And then there were two… Following California Wine Institute’s decision to hold its big annual tasting in September this year, March’s mega US tasting – formerly known as Go West – will feature wines from Oregon and Washington State.

The London tasting, held in The Great Hall at One Great George Street on 13 March, forms part of a more general European tour for the two states, culminating in an appearance at Prowein in Dusseldorf.

Visitors next month can expect to see 38 winery and agent tables, as well as a self-pour area for wineries where no representative was able to visit. And for those visitors keen to get to grips with some of the main varieties in these two regions, there’s a masterclass on each. Between 11:30 and 12:30 the subject will be The Rise of Oregon Chardonnay, while Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon on the World Stage will be hosted by Dr Jamie Goode between 14:30 and 15:30. Email to register interest in these seminars, and visit Eventbrite to register your attendance at the tasting in general.

Oregon wines on show at the tasting include Adelsheim Vineyard, Beckham Estate, Domaine Drouhin Oregon, Elk Cove, Firesteed Cellars, Phelps Creek, Sokol-Blosser, Willakenzie and more. Washington’s representative’s include Chateau Ste Michelle, L’Ecole No 41, Hedges Family Estate, Spring Valley Vineyards and more.
