Glenlivet releases new Cellar Collection

The Glenlivet has released the latest in its Cellar Collection, the 1973.

Drawn from the best three casks remaining from 1973, it’s a vatting of a single ex-sherry butt and two refilled American Oak hogsheads, which has been bottled, non chill filtered, at 49% abv.

Despite the age, it’s still got bags of charming fruitiness – think spiced apple and sultana cake, quince cheese, dried pear slices and slight coal fire sootiness.
Lovely stuff.
Its release coincides with the appointment of new master distiller, Alan Winchester.
