Hammer's new gin uses floral botanicals but retains a masculine power

Geranium is a new London Dry gin that’s pulled off the rare feat of employing floral botanicals without straying into the cloying territory of granny’s perfume.
Indeed, this gin has a lot of very manly London Dry structure and power to it – the secret is it uses characteristics of the whole geranium plant, from its prettier rose notes to the more piney, almost quinine-bitter leaf characters.
The result is a big 44% abv hit followed by a short burst of floweriness that then dries out into lively, peppery, green leaf notes that chatter along with a steady, soft base note of lychee and rose underneath.
An artfully executed gin whose 10 botanicals will no doubt fascinate bartenders and consumers alike.
Gorgeous bottle too.
Created by Hammer & Son Ltd and small-batch distilled at the Langley Distillery in Birmingham.
RRP £29/70cl. Coe Vintners 020 8551 4966
