Stuart Hudson has been named beverage manager for the cult new bar and restaurant Viajante in East London.

The restaurant is the brainchild of Nuno Mendes, the Portuguese chef best known for his private supper club The Loft, also in East London, which specialises in molecular tasting dinners.

Viajante is housed in Bethnal Green Town Hall, a Grade II listed building which is also being re-fitted as a luxury hotel called Town Hall. We had a preview and enjoyed an esoteric cocktail list with some more unusual classics such as the Silk Stocking (tequila, white cacao, grenadine and cream).

All in all, refreshingly off the beaten track in every way.
