Perrin picked up by Pol

Pol Roger UK has taken up the UK distribution of Maison Nicolas Perrin – a new northern Rhône négociant run by Nicolas Jaboulet and backed by the Perrins of Beaucastel fame.
The boutique venture, which is looking to buy its own property in the northern Rhône, will release wines from all the area’s appellations including, initially, Hermitage red and white, Côte-Rôtie and St-Joseph.
Production will be about 3,000-12,000 bottles from selected parcels of vines across the area, all blended and bottled in the Perrin winery in Orange.
‘With my knowledge and considerable experience of the northern Rhône, the selection and overseeing of the winemaking, and the subsequent link with Perrin’s cellars, we will deliver wines which respect the terroir of the individual appellations,’ said Jaboulet.
‘In addition, Maison Nicolas Perrin’s wines, through meticulous selection and elevage, will not be over-extracted, but will be well-balanced, elegant and food-friendly – and therefore suitable for restaurants and quality-conscious retailers alike.’
The initial wines, all from the 2007 vintage, are available ex-cellars from Pol Roger Portfolio.
