Baja business

The finest wines from Mexico’s Baja region are the focus of a new company launched at Imbibe 2010 this week.

Established by entrepreneur and former trade officer for Mexico in the UK Eduardo Flores, the business aims to promote and commercialise award-winning wines from Baja, the country’s foremost winemaking region.

According to Flores, Baja benefits from its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and a cold marine current which creates a Mediterranean-style microclimate, with mild winters and warm, sunny days and cool nights during the growing season.

‘Mexican wines are rapidly becoming the new “it thing” amongst consumers of refined taste,’ Flores said.

‘Their unique terroir, focus on quality at every stage and a commitment to small, exclusive production values is the formula for success for Mexican wines – and what better proof than the 274 medals won in the last ten years?’

Wines of Mexico will be exhibiting in the Bebidas de Mexico area of Imbibe 2010 this week.
