Sommeliers defeated... again

The Sommeliers vs Bartenders final on Tuesday saw a bartender team emerge victorious - the second time in two years of the contest. The competition sees bartenders and sommeliers take on each other's roles.
In a gripping final held at the centre stage of Imbibe 2010 at Earl's Court, bartender captain Julian de Feral of Lutyens put his team in the lead with the fast and accurate pouring of a magnum of champagne into 16 flutes, taking points from sommelier captain Nigel Lister of Royal Thames Yacht Club. A spectacular five-coupe champagne cascade executed by Met Bar's Lewis Wilkinson put his team further in the lead, and a solid enough bartender performance in the quiz section sealed their victory.
'We beat the sommeliers at being sommeliers,' explained a triumphant Rich Hunt from Kanaloa.
