A nod to Bajan distilling history

Mount_Gay_Rum_1703_Rare_Cask_Selection

Mount Gay unveiled 1703 Cask Selection in the UK on Monday, a premium rum that will be positioned at the top of its portfolio.

Intended to honour the distillery’s long history, 1703 is named after the year Mount Gay distillery was founded in Barbados. It is a blend of the company’s reserve rums, all aged between 10 and 30 years. The result is really fruity on the nose, dominated by ripe banana, as well as caramel, toffee and oak. The palate is all oak and dark chocolate, with some juicy acidity too.

With an RRP of £125, 1703 is aiming at top-end on-trade accounts like The Ritz, The Dorchester and Movida. It’s already secured a listing at Harrods, where it will be getting its own window display.
