New from Tuscany

Lodovico

Tenuta di Biserno is Tuscan wine pioneer Lodovico Antinori’s latest venture, a joint effort with elder brother Piero Antinori.

Touted as Lodovico's 'swansong' and a legacy for his daughter Sophia, the wines include three Bordeaux-inspired blends, Il Pino di Biserno, Biserno and flagship wine Lodovico – all imported into the UK exclusively by Corney & Barrow.

Tenuta di Biserno, in coastal Bibbona (Bolgheri), was first identified in 1994 as a possible extension of the Ornellaia estate, but its diverse terroir led Lodovico to develop it on its own.

Typical Bordeaux varietals have been planted in the vineyard's clay and mineral soils, using sustainable viticulture with the long-term aim of going biodynamic.

The team of winemakers is said to have been 'hand-picked' from Ornellaia, including Ranieri Orsini who had worked with Lodovico Antinori for seven years before taking up the position of director of viticulture at Biserno.

Michel Rolland, who has previously worked on Ornellaia and Masseto, has been enlisted as consultant.
