Barossa star Grant Burge is going back to his beginnings with a major cellar door renovation project at the Krondorf Winery, sited at the base of the Barossa ranges.

The new Grant Burge Cellar Door – moving from its existing base at Jacob's Creek on Barossa Valley Way – will be a two-storey centre with indoor and outdoor function areas, private tasting rooms and a café serving local food. The project, which is due to begin in October/November 2011 and have its official launch in July 2012, will also include the renovation of the nearby Falkenberg winery.

Grant Burge and business partner Ian Wilson originally bought Krondorf in 1978, before their business was acquired by Mildara, but Burge re-acquired the winery for his white wine needs in 1999.

'We had a long-term strategy to renovate and make the most of the views and the location,' explained Burge. 'It's always been a bit of a dream, but it’s now a reality.'
