Cocktails and comfort food

Russell Norman and Richard Beatty, they of Polpo, Polpetto, Spuntino and da Polpo fame have announced the upcoming opening of their fifth restaurant in London's West End.
Beatty and Norman promised their next project would be totally different to what's gone before, and by the sound of things the duo have stayed true to their word. Set to open in Covent Garden in November, Mishkin's has been described by Norman as 'a kind of Jewish deli with cocktails.'
Just as Spuntino has indulged in a love affair with US bourbon and whiskey, Mishkin's is to have a heavy slant towards gin. The cocktail list will be populated by classic drinks harking back to the 1930s and 1940s and the backbar will boast an impressive selection of the spirit, especially London varieties.
The food menu will be similarly timeless, with dishes such as Brick Lane salt beef on soda bread, a classic Reuben sandwich on rye, oxtail cholent, cod cheek popcorn and house-smoked beef brisket hash and eggs helping to soak up all that gin.
