Faking it

Jager bottle

Jägermeister have announced that it is taking legal action against five bars in the midlands and the north of England after discovering customers were being served alternative products when asking for Jägermeister by name.

Private investigators were called in, and their findings revealed that not only were substitute products being served, but on occasion they had actually been decanted into Jägermeister bottles. It has not yet been made clear though, whether the liquids being served were rival brands, or counterfeit Jägermeister.

The boom in Jägermeister witnessed by the UK on-trade over the past few years has led to incredible growth for the brand, with total sales jumping a phenomenal 100% in the past 12 months. As demand for Jägermeister and Jägerbombs continues to increase, and cheaper alternatives enter the marketplace, this incident is a stark reminder to operators that both the brand name, and Jägerbomb are both the intellectual property of Mast-Jägermeister SE; and that it isn't a brand afraid to flex its legal muscles.
