McEwan's and Younger's sold

Wells and Young's picked up McEwan's and Younger's from Heineken UK today.
The acquisition of these two Scottish beer brands will result in a new Wells and Young's office in Edinburgh, as the company's managing director Nigel McNally promised to 'nurture these fantastic Scottish ale brands, and give them a new lease on life, whilst always putting their Scottish heritage first'. McEwan's will apparently continue to be brewed at Caledonian brewery in Edinburgh.
The move is said to put the Bedford-based brewer into the UK's top three premium ale brewers, and will apparently not affect existing independent free trade accounts, with Heineken retaining exclusive supply of these brands in that channel.
