Enotria is the UK's leading on-trade wine distributor, overtaking Matthew Clark, according to a new study.

Australia-based Wine Business Solutions said the company had amassed 785 wine listings, taking an 8.5% share of the market, ahead of Matthew Clark's 6.8% slice.

Meanwhile, Bibendum remained in third place, with 6.3%, despite a fall in its market share. Liberty was close behind in fourth spot.

The report, Wine On-Premise UK 2011, estimates that the top 10 distributors now account for 48% of all on-trade wine listings, while the top 30 account for 68% – up from 61% last year.

The average price of a bottle of wine on a UK list was up 12% on last year to £44.47, suggesting a renewed trend of trading up – and reflecting ongoing increases in excise duty.

Cloudy Bay remained the most listed table wine brand in the country, followed by Berton Vineyards in second place and Alpha Zeta in third.

Among all wine brands, 10 champagnes featured in the top 15.
