Where it all started

Glenglassaugh's first distillate since it reopened its doors is approaching its 3 year old mark. After 22 years of mothballing, the Highland distillery was reopened in 2008.
It's been possible to track the distillery's progress through the release of a series of 'spirit drinks' with little or no ageing.
The first cask to be filled, on 16 December 2008, was transferred to two smaller hogsheads on 16 December 2010, one first-fill ex-Pedro Ximénez and one first-fill ex-palo cortado. On 16 September 2011 these were returned to the original butt to marry for the three months until it could be called whisky, then bottled at cask-strength.
