A few good bars

Thornbridge

Derbyshire brewer Thornbridge has plans to increase its focus on the bar sector in the not-too-distant future.

To this end, the brewer intends to add smaller bottle sizes to its current range later this year. Thornbridge has already introduced the use of smaller Key Kegs in the last nine months, making it easier to supply accounts such as hotels and restaurants.

Set up in 2005, brewing at Thornbridge Hall, the company has recently set up a second brewery in nearby Bakewell. The original brewery is still used to create new additions and limited editions, and also for some experimentation with barrel ageing.

While the brewing business has developed, the company has also gained a number of sites in the area, with more pubs expected to be added to this Thornbridge Estate, possibly further afield.

Thornbridge's popularity began with its Lord Marples and Jaipur IPA beers. During a recent visit to the brewery, Halcyon also stood out from the extensive range, a big and bold imperial IPA, as well as Bracia, a rich, dark ale made with chestnut honey.
