The hops grown in the Yakima Valley in Washington State are being championed by a distant brewery - Meantime in Greenwich.

The brewery's next limited edition beer, entitled Yakima Red, is available from next month, and sees these hops working together with UK and European malt.

'Having fallen in love 20 years ago with the unique flowery and fruity aromas the hop varieties from the Yakima Valley bring to beer, the Meantime team felt it was the right time to brew a beer to show off these North American gems,' said Steve Schmitt, head of brewing at Meantime London’s Greenwich brewery.

'As an American myself, I was excited about the opportunity to create a marriage of those ingredients and flavours to make Yakima Red a true blend of European and American styles and flavours,' he added.
