Walking for water
Clean H2O – it’s everywhere, right? Well, not quite – other parts of the world aren’t quite as lucky as us in only having to turn a tap on to get it.
Because of this, our friends at UK Coffee Week are planning a sponsored walk to raise money for Project Waterfall, a partnership they have set up with WaterAid to provide clean drinking water to some of the poorest coffee-producing communities.
The walk, called The Big Challenge, will bring together coffee drinkers on Sunday 15 April to walk 10km along the Thames while carrying up to 10 litres of water each – symbolising the struggle that people have to go through in order to get this essential liquid to their families.
The Big Challenge will also launch UK Coffee Week, which will be taking place between 23 and 29 April, and will see fundraising happening throughout the week.
There’s nothing better than seeing the industry pull together for a charitable cause.
Registration for The Big Challenge costs £10 to cover T-shirt and administration fees. Head here to register.
