Following his own bout against champion Clinton McKenzie late last year, the tireless Fred Siriex (boxing name Sugar Fred the Stinger) is behind a charity boxing match for hospitality workers, in aid of Galvin's Chance.
The line-up currently includes Siriex himself, Matt Wilkin MS, Ronan Sayburn MS, Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti (yes, Michel Roux Jr's scary deputy on Masterchef and at Le Gavroche) and a host of others.
The event, held on 20 September at London's Royal Automobile Club, will kick off with a champagne reception, before guests enjoy a star-studded 'food court', with dishes from the Galvin brothers, Raymond Blanc (Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons), Daniel Boulud (Bar Boulud), Philip Corrick (The Royal Automobile Club), Brett Graham (The Ledbury) and Roux Jr. Tickets are limited and range in price from £100 for a standing position, to £1,000 for a ringside table of four, so if you're feeling flush, visit the website to purchase. Galvin's Chance is a brilliant cause, helping young people with otherwise limited career prospects to forge a successful career in hospitality, so even if your budget won't quite stretch to a ticket, there's also the chance to donate on JustGiving.
