Nyetimber's sweet side

West Sussex winery Nyetimber has launched what it believes to be England's first demi-sec.
As with the producer's other wines, the demi-sec is produced entirely from estate-grown grapes. This addition to the range has been created with a range of sweet-food matches in mind, from classic pastries to rice pudding, according to winemaker Cherie Spriggs.
Spriggs commented: 'In order to be taken seriously, a sparkling wine producer needs to have a demi-sec in its portfolio. A classic brut doesn't have the richness or unctuous character needed to successfully pair with dessert.'
