The sweetest thing
The UK final of the Wines of Roussillon Dessert Trophy took place in early October and saw Sarah Frankland and Robert Giorgione of William Curley Dessert Bar take the win with their food pairing.
Frankland’s dish – apricot, pistachio and chocolate pavé – was matched with Domaine Fontanel Rivesaltes Ambré 1999, and judged the best by a panel of experts, including Sarah-Jane Evans MW and Anne Coquelin, pâtissier at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons (a previous winner of the competition). The judges praised the teamwork between the two and stated that it was the sense of collaboration which had set them apart from the rest.
