Simon Field MW

Simon Field strayed Gadarene-like into the world of chartered accountancy, working for KPMG in the City and then a New York bank in various tax-friendly European locations.

His determination to pass the exams, despite scant aptitude, was matched by equal determination to escape to the world of wine, which he duly did, ending up as buyer at prestigious London merchant Berry Bros & Rudd for 20 years. There he cultivated a love of the wines of Champagne and Spain and most of France.

Escaping the formality of the world of margin requirements, he decided, in 2018, to focus on what he loves best, writing, and now does just that, leaving few vinous stones unturned in an endlessly fascinating pursuit of vinous truth or, more usually, vinous truths.
