Stefano Cossio is head bartender at Bassoon bar in the Corinthia Hotel. Born in Udine, Italy, in 1978 he started his career after catering college in his home town, inspired by a cocktail book found in a drawer in his mother's local bar. After working at Cortina d’Ampezzo on the Veneto region, he moved to Venice at the Cipriani Hotel as a bar waiter. He moved to London at the end of 2000, subsequently working at The Dorchester Hotel, Four Seasons Park Lane, the Lobby Bar at One Aldywch, and again at the refurbished Dorchester Bar. After six years under the expert supervision of Giuliano Morandin, he joined the team at The Savoy Hotel for the historical reopening in 2010, after which he ran Bar 45 at 45 Park Lane Hotel.In 2008 Cossio won cocktail competitions from both Tanqueray and Snow Queen, as well as UK World Class. The following year he took first place in the UKBG Calvados cocktail competition, with the same result in the European final in Normandy. He has also served as London area chairman for the UKBG.
