Join this unique tasting as Mark Haisma gives a live tour of his own vineyards whilst sharing his fascinating story and winemaking philosophy first-hand.

Former winemaker at Yarra Yering, Mark Haisma started his winemaking journey with a decade-long apprenticeship with the late Dr Bailey Carrodus. Mark’s passion for making a wine that expresses the purity of the fruit and further reflects the soil they are grown in, is what then drew him to Burgundy.

Breaking the mold in a region known for its notoriously high vineyard prices and inherently difficult entry for a new winemaker with no vineyard or winery to inherit, Mark rented space in a small Gevrey-Chambertin cellar belonging to his friend. Thus, his micro-négociant winery was born, sourcing fruit from quality growers whom he had developed good relationships with, “old boys who sell mainly to the négociants” as he puts it.

Mark now enjoys critical acclaim for Burgundies and Northern Rhône wines. Appellations he produces include Saint-Romain and Santenay for his whites, whilst in his reds he offers Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Volnay and still retains Premier Crus in Morey-Saint-Denis Les Chaffots as well as Pommard Clos les Arvelets.

As we make our way through his specially-selected wines, Mark will enlighten us on the history behind each of them and discuss the growers, sites and nuances – with his vines in full view.
