Flint Wines' annual Burgundy en primeur tasting.
This will be an occasion for the merchant to introduce Domaine Launay-Horiot to the UK market. Run by ex-airline pilot Xavier Horiot, the 4ha estate is based in Pommard where over half of the estate’s vineyards are located but it also comprises two great parcels of Latricières-Chambertin and Chambertin itself.
Jason Haynes, Burgundy buyer and Director of Flint Wines says “The whites are stunning. Some commentators are claiming they are the best examples for over 2 decades. Stylistically they are a hybrid of 2007 and 2010; the minerality and raciness of the former with the depth and extract of the latter which is a pretty exciting combination. The reds are a delight. It seems to be a vintage that will seduce in youth with its juicy transparency but there is enough weight and acidity to give longevity too. Both fruit lovers and purists will fall in love with it in equal measure. It is difficult to make exact vintage comparisons, but what is clear, is that it’s a vintage of undoubted potential.”
