About the role

The Communications Manager for Western Europe will play a key role within the Corporate Communications team primarily supporting the teams for Western Europe and Global Operations. He or she must have a strong understanding of both internal and external communications strategies.

This role requires someone who can hold their own and operate independently with no support staff while understanding the importance of their role in the overall corporate environment.

The Communications Manager for Western Europe must think strategically and understand the big picture, not be afraid to get their hands dirty and approach projects in a collaborative manner. He or she must showcase creativity, flexibility and professionalism.

The individual should be vision driven and a strong writer who knows how to adapt tone and style for different audiences and vehicles. He or she should understand best practices in communicating to a variety of cultures, geographies and languages.

The ideal candidate likes to push the status quo to introduce new, disruptive technologies and tools but must understand the importance of deadlines and delivering on commitments.

The individual will contribute to regional and global employee communications by developing internal content and infusing creativity into the planning and execution of programs.

The Communications Manager will also support external corporate communications focused on key strategic priorities and on building greater awareness of Bacardi, the company as well as its brands, among target audiences. He or she needs proven ability to develop strong relationships with core internal clients to help them achieve their communications objectives.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Support strategic communications planning and execution for internal clients, including Western Europe and Global Operations teams.

  • Participate in strategic planning sessions with senior leaders to provide counsel on communications effectiveness.

  • Create assets to support senior executive communications to employees:

  • Develop and design presentations

  • Draft and edit written communications

  • Shoot videos for intranet / webcasts - draft talking points, select locations and prep executives. Oversee final editing process.

  • Manage external agencies and vendors to deliver assets including visual design, digital content, campaigns, and more

  • Support external corporate communications program:

  • Manage external agencies and support development of news agenda

  • Assess and identify media opportunities

  • Draft talking points / Q&A

  • Coach executives

  • Support internal/external communications for our Sustainability program and Global Reflections 4G initiative, supporting greater diversity at Bacardi.

  • Lead internal communications for Global Operations initiatives including Safety and Quality programs and Founder's Day celebrations.

  • Support organization of annual two-day Extended European Leadership Team meeting.

  • Support posting of content for Western Europe and Global Operations on ONE Bacardi mobile communications tool.

  • Own metrics reporting and identify trends that may influence future development and capabilities.

  • Serve on global editorial team mapping out weekly content and production schedule for ONE Bacardi mobile communications tool.

  • Identify story opportunities for both internal and external use to showcase Bacardi Life.

Measures of success

Performance: Deliver against Corporate Communications annual / quarterly priorities and objectives.

Employee Engagement: Drive sustained improvement in engagement and enablement, as measured through the

Employee Engagement Survey (EES) and usage of internal communications tools.

Financial: Develop and manage budgets effectively

Reputation: Ensure protection of the company and brand images

Critical experiences for success

  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field

  • Minimum five years of experience in Communications, preferably in-house

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; proven skills as copy editor

  • Strong media relations experience

  • Strong organization and time-management skills

  • Experience and ability to manage content for large scale events and meetings helpful

  • Industry experience helpful

  • Strong visual design flair

  • An interest in and experience with the latest communication mediums and trends a must

  • Experience managing project budgets and agency relationships

  • Fluent in MS Word, Power Point, Excel

  • Proficient in Adobe PhotoShop. Other graphic design and publishing software knowledge a plus

  • Web and social media savvy

  • Objective and measurement setting; with expertise on how to measure website effectiveness

  • Fluent in English. Additional European languages a plus
