These are paid Returnship opportunities designed for those with relevant skills and experience who have taken a career break of 2+ years. As such the salary will reflect the candidates experience as well as the industry average.

About the Returnships
This is an exciting opportunity for those of you who are returning to the workplace after a break of 2+ years. Ideally suited to someone who has taken a break to raise a family or fulfil other caring responsibilities. This Returnship will allow you to build your confidence on your return to work whilst progressing your skills in an exciting role.

This is a 6 month programme beginning in September 2019. Throughout this period you'll be assigned with a mentor throughout your Returnship whilst also receiving development relating to leadership skills as well as on the job training.

Project Engineer Returnships:

The role is positioned in the International Supply Centre (ISC) Engineering team providing Capital Project support to Cameronbridge Distillery, Leven Spirit Supply, Leven Packaging and our Central Sites or Malt Distilling. The overall purpose of this team is to deliver the strategy for asset development.

For this role this includes:

  • Use specialist knowledge to deliver capital expenditure projects to the correct technical specification.

  • Managing efficient spend for capital expenditure projects.

  • Co-ordinating and managing external resources.

Mechanical / Electrical Engineer Returnships:

In a team-based role, engineers will play a pivotal role in the Packaging team by maintaining the line and finding improvements wherever possible. They will be determined and focused in meeting performance targets in relation to safety, quality, service, cost and asset care while consistently remaining 100% compliant.

For this role this includes:

  • Responding promptly and appropriately to plant emergency and breakdown situations. Applying well practised fault-finding skills to effectively resolve breakdowns.

  • Maintaining and repairing plant to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiencies to ensure compliance with all H&S legislation, including risk-assessing changes to the plant and process.

  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives.

  • Support and actively contribute to line improvement plans.

  • Actively support and develop other team members.

  • Fully comply with all legal and statutory Diageo requirements and risk management standards.

To be considered for this role, you will be/have;

  • Must be time served electrical or mechanical engineer preferably with HNC qualifications.

  • Ideally, the job holder will have a minimum of five years' experience in a bottling or high-speed manufacturing environment, including automated packaging environments.

  • IT literacy and quick to learn

  • Experience with risk standards (Quality H&S Environment) Safety and hygiene compliance procedures

  • Experience with SAP would be useful

About you
We're looking for people with character: motivated, resilient and open-minded. You'll have previous experience as an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer who has developed within your area of expertise by attaining qualifications and / or specialist skills.

Project Engineer Returnships:

  • You'll have previous experience in project management and you'll also have health and safety experience e.g. a qualification in NEBOSH.

  • You'll be good at relationship building, have excellent communication skills and be an effective communicator.

Mechanical / Electrical Engineer Returnships:

  • You'll be time a served electrical or mechanical engineer preferably with HNC qualifications.

  • You'll have sufficient experience in a bottling or high-speed manufacturing environment, including automated packaging environments.

  • You'll have experience with risk standards (Quality H&S Environment) Safety and hygiene compliance procedures.

  • You'll have good IT literacy (experience of using SAP would be beneficial)
