The Voyage of Buck

General Manager, Cocktail bar, Edinburgh

Edinburgh and Lothians, Scotland

The Voyage of Buck are currently seeking a General Manager to join our team on a full-time basis, with immediate start.

TVOB is an award-winning bar and restaurant in Edinburgh's West End, acting as home to some of the city's best bartenders. The area is much sought after and TVOB sits alongside many independent restaurants, galleries and retail

The company - Big Red Teapot ltd has become one of the cities recent success stories encompassing Hamilton's, Treacle, The Blackbird, The Voyage of Buck and Big Red Events and shows no sign of slowing down, having been winners and finalists in the Scottish Style awards, SLTN, Dram, voted Best group bar employers at the Scottish Hotel and Catering awards. Recently The Voyage of Buck has won a global award with Patron Perfectionist, UK awards with Courvoisier, a UK Travel award finalist with Conde Nast and voted most stylish bar in the country at the Scottish Style awards. The Bar featured heavily at the recent Tales of the Cocktail events and hosted drinks from bartenders as respected as Aidan Bowie and Porter's Alex Lawrence

The drinks list is formed mainly from original drinks and centres around the concept of key cities. Currently we have drinks inspired by Kyoto, Copenhagen, Delhi and Saint Tropez. Knowledge of drinks formation is important. We make in house vermouths, edible paint, original liqueurs, infusions and cordials. We encourage cocktail competitions and international bar swaps to further our knowledge and progress the brand

Successful applicants should have enthusiasm for the industry, an excellent command of English, have relevant experience, knowledge of premium spirits, an interest in food trends, commercial flair and awareness and a knowledge of the history of drinks. This is a fast paced and popular bar in a city that has a great independent bar scene so an individual approach to drinks is important as is a knowledge of social media and its role within the bar scene

A competitive salary is offered along with service charge and tips which go directly to the team. This role would suit a first time General Manager or current Bar Manager wanting to join the independent scene.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a much respected small, independent company and make an impact, make career moves and learn how to run a small business. We look forward to hearing from you.
