Global Procurement delivers significant contribution towards Diageo's productivity and growth goals, enabling both markets & corporate functions to deliver best cost and improved management of 3rd party spend. Diageo's Procurement structure is a combination of Global Procurement resources focused on developing best in class category strategies and in-market Procurement resources focused on excellence in execution and supplier performance management.
The Indirects Procurement team is seeking to deliver year on year cost reduction through aggregation of spend and category knowledge, alongside global standardisation and control that will influence buyer behaviour, reduce total cost and deliver productivity gains.
Purpose of the Role
There are three key aspects to the role;
The responsibility for managing and implementing the strategic direction of HR Category ensuring delivery of the long and short term procurement targets across multiple business units and sub categories (including Reward, Employee benefits, Recruitment, Temp Labour, Payroll and Training). The large number of senior, key stakeholders, high profile and large variety of subcategories makes this category complex. Key focus areas are;
Complex sub categories with many PSL's defined across the category. Common opportunity across all areas is to improve structured buying including reduction in tail spend and number of tail vendors.
Work closely with Consultancy to ensure that the subcategory of HR consultancy to the overall HR business and sourcing strategies.
Guide buying behaviour through communication of best practice and compliant purchasing process.
Demand management through Anaplan budget review at planning stage.
Track Return on Investment and guide future spend.
Work closely with Business stakeholders to identify/develop Business strategies that will allow the development in parallel of a robust sourcing strategy.
Ownership and management of HR team engagement with Markets, including ownership of the central reporting. Including;
Collaborate with all Markets to roll out and implement HR sourcing strategy, allowing Markets to leverage the centrally driven opportunities, as well as allowing markets to identify local opportunities through the Global connectivity.
Ensure consistency of sourcing and contracting in the key areas, enabling improved central reporting (leverage Global Source to Pay teams).
Challenge Markets to create ambitious and stretching AOP's, and monitor delivery through the Global tier process, supporting Markets to course correct as required.
As part of the Indirects leadership team drive delivery of best in class procurement in all of our categories through implementation of the Indirects Strategy including;
Implementation of a robust planning process which ensures a stretching pipeline of projects aligned with category strategies, savings in line with Productivity targets and Anaplan budgets and maximisation of Procurement Controlled Spend.
Rotational leadership of monthly Tier process.
Delivery of improve projects.
Collaboration with Productivity team to ensure seamless integration of procurement in Productivity delivery.
Complexity of the Role:
Effective working and speed to execution across a wide range of functions, geographies and stakeholders.
Multiple strategic projects running at any one time requiring effective prioritization and management of time.
Strong influencing and communication skills needed to bring stakeholders, suppliers and peers on the journey to successful implementation of strategy.
Requires extensive functional, financial and contracting knowledge to navigate the complexities of a diverse category.
Degree educated or equivalent relevant work experience
Fluent in English
Procurement experience in an FMCG environment. Proven experience in key strategic procurement skills including, strategy development, negotiations (Complex / multi-country negotiations), analysis (cost drivers), forecasting and benchmarking.
Strong knowledge of financial drivers to shape procurement strategies. Proven experience in taking informed, calculated risks to achieve substantial strategic gains. Strong analytical skills. Forensic understanding of the cost drivers to target and influence costs through end-to-end value.
Strong commercial acumen, understanding of the business and judgment
Ability to work in an agile, fast moving environment and ability to keep up with pace of change and prioritize according to business needs.
Strong communication and influencing skills and personal impact to gain credibility quickly with senior stakeholders.
Experience of making tough decisions and prioritizing delivery in a complex and difficult environment
Objectively challenges established practice to stimulate alternative thinking.
Strong leadership, coaching and inter-personal skills
