About the role

The Market Development Executive will manage the sales and relevant Route to Market (RTM) for Bacardi portfolio in the Pretoria market. He/she will also be responsible for managing the AVP (Availability, Visibility & promotions) in the as well as be responsible for driving volumes & increasing sales respectively. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accountability for building Bacardi brand equity by leading and motivating 3rd Party Distributor's team, and optimizing best execution of local marketing mix in line with the brands' global strategies.

  • Having an hands on approach in the market and support your manager in in your markets on operational marketing and commercial activity in line with the distributors team.

  • Supporting your manager with relevant marketing and sales analysis inputs.

  • Providing feedback on the market growth and potential.

A large percentage of your time will be spent interacting with the local market and 3rd Party distributor teams. As a result, you can expect to be travelling extensively to stay connected to all stakeholders.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

Drive market growth and build distributor confidence

  • Responsible for achieving budget, reporting and Strategic Plans recommendations in relevant markets.

  • Responsible to set up RTM, with distributors and wholesalers network.

  • Building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with distributor teams and liquor retailers.

  • Monitoring and reporting competiton in the market.

  • Ensuring optimum distribution and visibility of our brands.

  • Planning and co-ordinate training & education programs for the distributor network.

  • Control and manage contracts for distribution agreements.

  • Best execution of Brand Plans with distributors and local trade.

  • Active involvement in new product launches.

  • Monitoring retailers Key Performance Indictors.

  • Promote the 'One Bacardi' culture within distributors and retailers.

MIS and Reporting

  • Supporting Market Development Manager in sales & marketing administration, budget preparations and revisions.

  • Market / Competitor research & analysis.

  • Monthly Sales and stock follow up.

  • Monthly Marketing reporting (best practice, ROI, MBHs ).

Develop talent and capability

  • Ensuring that your distributors have resources needed to deliver desired results

  • Ensuring all distributors have understanding of the company policies and culture

Create a winning team

  • To keep the distributor team motivated to achieve their targets and to celeberate success.

Measures of success

  • Creation of efficient distribution across markets, across channels.

  • Availability of our whole portfolio across markets, across channels.

  • Great relationships and partnerships with distributor people and retailer teams.

  • Volume Growth.

  • Increase brand visibility and share of voice

Critical experiences for success

To be successful in this role you will have/be:

  • Strong commercial skills with proven track record in sales

  • Proficiency in English

  • Be self-motivated & have a sense of ownership

  • Entrepreneurial and hard worker.

  • Proactive and Can do attitude

  • Organised and well planned

  • Comfortable working with figures, have financial skills and be able to develop strategies from analysis

  • Team-working skills are vital.

  • Able to multi-task.

The following experiences are preferred:

  • Degree graduate, preferably in business or comerce

  • Minimum 4-5 years experience with a proven track record in sales

  • FMCG experience essential and spirits business knowledge is a huge bonus

  • Knowledge of local market

  • Proficiency in MS Office
