About the role
Provides paralegal support to V.P. Deputy General Counsel, Senior Coporate Counsel and North America legal team in the areas of trade practice and marketing compliance; litigation; commercial sales transactions including contracts; regulatory support including investigations/inquiries, license & permit filings; corporate resolutions; preparing and reviewing contracts, agreements and amendments and other miscellaneous matters.
Provides general administrative support.
Candidates must be conscientious self-starters, able to manage cross-organizational issues in a fast-paced environment.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
Assist Deputy General Counsel and Senior Corporate Counsel on litigation, regulatory and investigation matters involving Company and/or its affiliates, including providing assistance and support with respect to the management of Company's discovery obligations; communication with Company employees in connection with factual investigations and evidence compilation; tracking, reviewing and auditing outside counsel invoices for accuracy; timely updating of litigation status reports; and the compilation, organization and maintenance of litigation and regulatory records.
Contract or regulatory document review, analysis, drafting and negotiating/consulting under direction of Deputy General Counsel and Senior Corporate Counsel (e.g., confidentiality agreements, sales agreements, sponsorship agreements, distribution agreements, preparation of term sheets/contract summaries, contract document comparisons, etc.). Track and monitor projects and manage contracts database.
Provide first level legal review of all sales advertising and promotional materials for North American sales and back-up support and review for the Company and/or its affiliates on marketing advertising and promotional materials. This position also provides some review of global sales and marketing materials. This also includes serving as a liaison between the Legal Department and the appropriate sales and marketing representatives and regulatory agencies.
Provide legal support to secure and maintain all licenses,permits and corporate resolutions to allow Company and/or its affiliates to operate in a timely and efficient manner.
Provide legal support on consumer complaints that may have legal risk implications and serve as primary liaison between Company and appropriate insurance brokers/carries. Maintain and monitor consumer complaint records and communicate with Company's Operations department regarding complaints follow-up and successful resolution.
Provide presentation support for Deputy General Counsel and Senior Corporate and others within the Legal Department, particularly, PowerPoint presentations.
Provide general and routine administrative support, including the maintenance of calendars, preparation of expense reports, answering telephones, composing/faxing routine correspondence, copying, routing incoming mail, arranging/scheduling meetings and telephone conferences, setting up and maintaining department files in accordance with document retention guidelines, and making travel arrangements.
Perform special projects/assignments as directed by in-house counsel including, analysis of unique problems and propose solutions, keeping abreast of changes in laws that affect client areas and conduct legal and factual research.

Effective management of internal legal functions and clients
Work effectively with the Regional and National teams (i.e., Commercial, Marketing, Corp Comm, etc.)
Integration with global Legal teams, in order to provide assistance and legal guidance as needed. Work with Legal Manager to conduct legal training for employees and agencies of record.
Effective and timely completion of review of materials, legal drafting and coordination with outside counsel which help drive the business.
Smooth execution of regional and local campaigns/activations/projects.
Active contributor to global projects, cross border activities and corporate functions.

Exceptional computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Lotus Notes, Lexis-Nexis, and Internet.
Prior experience with or exposure to sales & marketing regulatory issues and agencies, litigation and sales distribution commercial transactions and systems.
Spanish fluency helpful but, not required (oral and written)
Work experience requirements
At least 5 years of proven and progressive experience as Paralegal in a law firm or corporate law environment.
Educational requirements - preferred
Certificate of completion/diploma from Paralegal Studies program (preferably ABA approved)
