Job Description


The role has two primary purposes:

  • To provide financial, compliance and business performance leadership to the Third-Party sites, including working collaboratively with operations to drive efficiencies, productivity initiatives and the most appropriate allocation of resources and investment to create value for Diageo

  • To provide FP&A activities for Diageo's North American packaging sites to get a view of Total Conversion financials.

Decision Making / Financial Responsibility

  • Collectively the Third-Party sites bottle ~7 million cases a year with an annual operating budget of ~$28 million

  • The Finance Analysis provides financial oversight and management for these sites. This includes building awareness and accountability within the organization, reducing complexity, and optimizing business processes

  • Total Conversion (owned sites and third-party sites) bottles ~55 million cases and has a cost base of $185M

Management Responsibility

  • Reports to the Finance Director, Supply Operations.

  • Manage and influence stakeholders across multiple sites and other functions. Effectively work with numerous members of finance community. Build strong relationships quickly.

Complexity of Role

  • The role requires understanding in accounting, planning, reporting, analysis and controls.

  • Understanding of end to end Supply chain and cost accounting

  • Building and leveraging relationships across different business functions and geographies/countries which are essential to delivering results (Sites are in USA and in Canada)

Key Outputs/Deliverables

  • Provide exceptional business partnering support and financial oversight for the sites to help drive effective decision making.

  • Lead the development of the annual operating plan (AOP) and monthly LE forecasts/R&O (risks and opportunities).

  • Coordinate with local and offshore teams the monthly close process and preparation of financial and operational performance reports including Tier/BPM reporting and KPIs.

  • Be able to connect transactional details to decision support required to drive plant performance.

  • Ensure that the correct controls and governance is in place to meet CARM and Risk standards.

  • Perform the costing and standards setting process for third party sites

  • Provide financial support for key projects & initiatives.


  • 5+ years of financial management/accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or fast moving & complex consumer goods environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required; a professional accounting designation or MBA is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the beverage alcohol industry supply chain desirable (particularly distillation/maturation/bottling operations).

  • Strong PC & systems expertise. SAP knowledge a plus.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Understanding of accounting processes, procedures and internal controls.

  • Ability to adapt quickly, learn new tasks independently and manage competing priorities.

  • Proven ability to distill out complex business issues, provide logical, compelling and clear plans for action.

  • Ability to travel required.
