An exceptional opportunity exists at our newest venture, for a knowledgeable and professional Sommelier to become part of the team for our new Connaught Grill due to open in early 2020.
Found at the heart of Mayfair village, The Connaught blends tradition with contemporary flair. With its bespoke service, 3,000-piece art collection, two Michelin-starred restaurant Hélène Darroze at The Connaught and London's only Aman Spa, it has always been the choice for connoisseurs of the art of living well. Jean-Georges at The Connaught offers all-hours informal gourmet dining; and the exquisite Connaught Bar has won prestigious awards for its masterful mixology.
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, the intimate 46 seat Connaught Grill will be under the direction of internationally renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. This will be his modern interpretation of a classic grill with an open kitchen complete with wood burning grill and rotisserie offering the finest British sourced produce, and a menu which will include ingredients from langoustines to Dover sole to English game and Wagyu beef. The restaurant will offer an exceptional wine list drawn from The Connaught wine cellar, offering some of the greatest producers in the world.
As Sommelier you will assist the Assistant Head Sommelier in ensuring professional, efficient and accurate service of our 3000 reference wine list as well as all types of beverage, in order to completely exceed guests' expectations during their meal experience. An excellent and confident communicator, you will take a hands-on approach to your role and be passionate about people, the delivery of exceptional guest service and the development of the waiting team, with a strong focus on training and development.
As Sommelier you will have a solid understanding of both new and old world wines and successfully completed WSET or equivalent qualification to a high level. You will have a natural flair for service and in delivering a strong service culture, with a natural ability to motivate and develop others. You will have a proven background within a similar position and environment where quality food, wine and ingredients are key priorities.
