UK Control Manager

1.Purpose of the Job

This is a high profile and technically challenging role. The role reports to Control and Tax Director and will involve significant exposure to the local BBP Director and BU head, as well as Zone Control and Tax.

The Finance Control Manager is responsible for managing accounting and reporting activities for the AB InBev Group companies in the UK, according to internal /external accounting and reporting standards. This includes overseeing the operational activities performed to close the books on a regular periodic cycle and consolidating all the financial data as dictated by global and local regulatory and statutory reporting.

The role is also to manage the relationship with the GCC in Bangalore to ensure that all control and tax related processes are conducted efficiently and accurately.

2.Business environment

  • Ensuring effective delivery of all finance requirements to zone and global finance teams, which centres on supporting the BSC team.

  • Adherence to all legal requirements (both UK legislation and IFRS)

  • 11 UK companies - mixture of active, dormant and holding companies

  • Total UK responsibility (all dimensions/functions)

  • Annual turnover c£2bn, total assets £1bn

  • Reporting under IFRS and FRS 101

  • Authorized (and final) signatory of statutory accounts (local fiscal filings) and group reporting requirements

  • Compliance according to AB InBev policies, Minimum Internal Controls and FEP

  • Internal & External Audit reports

    1. Accountabilities

Finance Control

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the financial results of all the UK operations in the IFRS reporting packs

  • Manage the processing of transactions and the companies' ongoing financial records by supporting the BSC ATR team (all areas of general accounting including fixed assets accounting, treasury, intercompany).

  • Manage all operational activities performed to close the books on a regular periodic cycle (monthly, quarterly and yearly) and perform reviews of all reporting/analysis of data provided

  • Monitoring and budgeting/forecasting cash flows and core working capital positions for the whole UKI business

  • Final signatory of all UK financial statements under local statutory requirements (nine legal entities), including making final technical accounting decisions in agreement with our external auditors (PWC)

  • Management of the local statutory audits, including reviewing data from Finance Control Manager and BSC teams to ensure no audit issues arise

  • Resolve accounting issues which are identified within other areas such as PTP and OTC

  • Ensure proper internal controls environment, including adherence to policies and MICS

  • Challenge financial postings and provide accounting advice to other areas of the business to ensure correct accounting treatment

  • Provide approval for transactions as per the DAG (working closely with the legal team)

  • Ensure accurate reporting of all UK pension liabilities and transactions

  • Manage the companies' financial position on all UK non-operational properties

Other

  • Take appropriate action where areas of non-compliance are identified and put in place routines for monitoring activities for continuous improvement

  • Liaison with internal audit teams to ensure best practices are adhered to

  • Review compliance with FEP to ensure good results are delivered in the correct methods

  • Attend Zone control team meetings to share best practice and support developments across the Zone

  • Attend commercial meetings/approval routes to ensure accounting and cashflow are considered (eg UK PTIG meetings) including advising BU West Mancom members

    1. Qualifications and Technical competencies required

Education

  • University degree in Economics, Business and related field required.

  • Qualification in relevant accounting profession (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) plus minimum 5 years experience in a financial accounting role

Experience

  • Good business and commercial understanding

  • Experience in working in an ERP environment is a plus

  • Experience in working in a multi-national environment is a plus

  • Well developed accounting skills

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
