The honourees for the 14th annual Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards have been announced, with the UK taking the lead for Best International Hotel Bar in Europe

While covid-19 continues to leave a cloud of uncertainty over events and awards ceremonies, in a statement on its website, the Foundation announced that it 'feels it is more important now than ever to continue to honour the professionals, organisations and establishments than have enhanced the industry' and that it will 'move forward' with the awards.

London makes up the majority of this year's UK honourees in the European categories, with two entries from Edinburgh bringing the total up to 29 nominations across six categories.

The strongest category, Best International Hotel Bar, sees London take nine of the 11 spots:

  • Artesian at The Langham
  • Lyaness at Sea Containers
  • Punch Room at The London Edition
  • Scarfes Bar at the Rosewood
  • American Bar at The Savoy
  • The Coral Room at The Bloomsbury Hotel
  • The Donovan Bar at Brown's Hotel
  • The Lobby Bar at The London Edition.

Next up, Best New International Cocktail Bar has London with the majority with six entries:

  • Callooh Callay Chelsea
  • Davies and Brook
  • Kwānt
  • Murder Inc.
  • Tayēr + Elementary
  • The Mezzanine Bar

Best International Cocktail Bar saw stiff competition from Milan and Paris, but one entry from Edinburgh and four from London:

  • Homeboy Bar, London
  • Scout London, London
  • Swift, London
  • The Lucky Liquor Co., Edinburgh
  • Three Sheets, London

While Best International High Volume Bar features four London bars and one from Edinburgh:

  • Callooh Callay, London
  • Laki Kane, London
  • Panda & Sons, Edinburgh
  • The Cocktail Trading Company, London
  • Trailer Happiness, London

And London has four entries in Best International Bar Team:

  • Artesian
  • Lyaness
  • The Connaught Bar
  • The Donovan Bar

Finally, Sexy Fish flies the flag for the UK as the only entry in Best International Restaurant Bar.

'I have heard from so many bars and bartenders that this is the hardest time they have ever had to get through,' said Spirited Awards chair Charlotte Voisey. 'First and foremost our thoughts and efforts are focused on doing what we can to help the industry. That said we believe the role of the Spirited Awards to celebrate excellence in the industry remains as important now as ever. I am delighted to see the regional lists come through filled with tremendous bars and teams all over the world. The regional round continues to allow us to celebrate more bars in more places each year.'

Congratulations to all of our UK honourees!
