anCnoc unveils 35yo second release limited edition whisky

12 October 2016

With whisky-loving season fast approaching, Scotch distillery anCnoc has announced the limited edition release of what it reckons is its most exclusive bottling to date – 35yo second release.

Only 670 bottles of the premium single malt Scotch whisky will be available globally, and it's bottled at 41% abv – without being chill filtered or coloured. Its time in ex-bourbon barrels is what sets it apart from the 35yo first release.

Maturing for over 30 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky is described as being balanced and full-bodied with a rich aroma. Top notes in the 35yo are said, by the distillery, to be of lemon curd, green apples and cut flowers, followed by honey sweetness, creamy toffee, leather and spice. It is also said to be oily on the palate, with caramel honey and vanilla working with a subtle smokiness.

'The 35yo second release is a special expression for anCnoc,' said brand manager Stephanie Bridge. 'Having been matured for more than three decades in our traditional dunnage warehouses, which still retain their earthen floors and add so much to the quality and character of this special liquid, the second release has lain in ex-bourbon barrels, offering fans something slightly different to the original expression.'

RRP £500/70cl, Masters of Malt, 01892 888 376
