anCnoc unveils fashionable new single malt

15 February 2016

Highland single malt anCnoc has teamed up with Savile Row designer Patrick Grant to create a new limited whisky, Blas.

Aged in American oak and sherry butts, the new whisky is bottled at 54%, and is neither coloured nor chill filtered. Its name, Blas, means 'taste' in Gaelic.

Grant, of Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons and menswear label E Tautz (and judge on BBC Two's The Great British Sewing Bee, no less), has designed the bottle for the new whisky. For inspiration Grant has drawn not only on the brand and the liquid, but the methods used to make it. He spent time at Knockdhu Distillery, where anCnoc is produced.

'Everything in the print is from the hill, the village of Knock or within the distillery itself and tells the story of the making of Blas,' he explained. 'I’ve tried to interpret anCnoc’s history and tradition in a modern way, and hope this is translated through the aesthetic of the bottle.'

Brand manager Stephanie Allison said: 'The Knockdhu Distillery is like no other, using traditional production methods to craft every whisky that is released. The partnership with Patrick pays homage to this, celebrating these time-honoured traditions. Every drop of this limited edition Scotch whisky celebrates Patrick and anCnoc’s shared Scottish heritage and the spirit of modern tradition.'
