Angostura's got a nice little present for the UK on-trade: hitting our shores this December is its new limited edition Cask Collection expression, called No.1.
This liquid is a 16yo blend, aged a minimum of 10 years in American oak casks, before being re-casked into French oak casks used once previously for cognac. It spent six more years in this second cask, before being bottled at 40% abv.
Craig Chapman, marketing manager for Angostura at Cellar Trends, said: 'The UK trade and spirits connoisseurs
have an increasing appetite for artisan rums. The first rum in the Cask Collection in 2013 sold out fast, so we think
this new Angostura Rum No.1 Once Used French Oak will be keenly sought after.'
To launch and promote this new expression over here, master distiller John Georges is headed to the UK with a small amount of liquid for sampling. Get yourself to either the House of Angostura pop-up bar at the Old Spitalfields London Cocktail Week hub, or to Georges' masterclass at RumFest on Saturday 17 October at 1.45pm.
Out of 15,030 bottles in total, 1,800 bottles have been reserved for the UK – and they're available for preorder from Cellar Trends. Contact the brand for training opportunities with Georges and the Angostura team too.
