Armit Wines strengthens Californian portfolio

16 February 2016

With the addition of four new wineries, Armit Wines' Californian offering is significantly strengthened.

The merchant announced today that it has added Hanzell Vineyards in Sonoma, Bien Nacido & Solomon Hills Estates in Santa Maria Valley, Stony Hill Vineyard in Napa Valley and The Hobo Wine Company. Available from the end of this month, they join Diamond Creek and Freemark Abbey in the portfolio, giving Armit good coverage of California's key regions. The move forms part of Armit's recent strategic range review.

'We are pleased to announce our recently strengthened Californian portfolio which includes some of the most celebrated and up-and-coming names from across the Golden State,' said Edwina Watson, buyer at Armit Wines. 'Exclusive to the UK for the first time, we are proud to introduce The Hobo Wine Company and Bien Nacido & Solomon Hills Estates, alongside the historic Stony Hill and Hanzell Vineyards.

'I visited California last August during the harvest and travelled 1,000 miles to find out what makes California so special. I was struck by the sheer diversity, quality and regional identity on offer. All of these wineries extol the virtues of cool climate sites or single-vineyard terroir. The wines are classic, very suited to the UK palate and to our customers' tastes; they are not only delicious but they look the part too.'

Check out the entire range at the Go West! US West Coast tasting on 10 March, and catch Hanzell Vineyards at In Pursuit of Balance on 22 February.
