Bancroft Wines has been appointed exclusive agent for Petaluma, bring back the Adelaide Hills winery to the UK after four years of absence.
Established in 1976, Petaluma is known for its Hanlin Hill Vineyard Riesling from Clare Valley, as well as for pioneering the Piccadilly Valley and Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills.
In 2014, Petaluma built a new winery on Adelaide Hills' Woodside to allow all operations to take place on one site, while also bringing up the potential production capacity to 2,000 tonnes of fruit per year.
'We are delighted to re-introduce this agency to market in 2016,' said Bancroft Wines' managing director Neil McAndrew. '[We have] a strong track record of working with top Australian brands and the iconic brand status of Petaluma perfectly complements our existing range. We believe the quality of top Aussie wine is currently better than ever.'
Andrew Hardy, head winemaker at Petaluma (pictured top), added: 'We are really excited about being back in the UK marketplace and in the glasses of those who enjoy premium Australian wine. We are looking forward to working with Bancroft and re-establishing Petaluma as one of the leading Australian wines in the market.'
Bancroft Wines will offer the four wines in the Yellow Label range: the Hanlin Hill Clare Valley Riesling, the Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay, the Evans Vineyard Coonawarra Cabernet and the Adelaide Hills B&V Vineyard Shiraz; plus a single-vineyard Tiers Chardonnay of which only 200-400 cases are made annually.
The trade is invited to come meet Hardy and taste the wines tomorrow Tuesday 12 July at M Victoria, where a drop-in tasting will take place from 10:30am to 6:30pm.
