The bartenders' team won the eighth annual Bartenders v Sommeliers competition earlier today at Imbibe Live.

Coached by Bubbledogs and Kitchen Table's Sandia Chang, the Phylloxera team snatched the trophy back from the sommeliers after two years, scoring 308 against the Dennis' Menaces' 287.

The first challenge, dubbed Mega Pour, saw somm captain Ben Porter from Kitchen Table narrowly lose to the American Bar at The Savoy's Dominic Whisson.

Then came the champagne cascade round, which 7 Tales' Robyn Wilkie made look incredibly easy despite a breakage, while the somms' Jonathan Kleeman from Social Eating House suffered several breakages after attempting a six-coupette tower.

The last challenge, a mystery-box tiki punch round, was actually won by the sommeliers – no doubt helped by intensive training from coach Chris Dennis and the Trailer Happiness team.
