Online beer retailer Beer Hawk has announced the creation of a new delivery service that aims to keep beers chilled to below 6°C from brewery to customer thanks to refrigerated warehouses and transportation.

Called Beer Hawk Fresh, the new arm offers same-day delivery in London and next-day delivery to the rest of the country. The service will cover beer in kegs, cans and bottles, and it already has Magic Rock, Goose Island, Fourpure, Little Creatures, Modern Times and Birra Del Borgo signed up, alongside other breweries.

‘Simple science dictates that beer is happier when it's stored below 6°C. It keeps the flavour as the brewer intended and stops beers refermenting, which means more beer is poured rather than fobbing foam down the drain. We'll be delivering cold kegs that bars won't have to worry about, which means less waste and happier customers,’ says Andrew Morgan, head of Beer Hawk Fresh.

The online ordering platform also provides live inventory information for customers, ensuring that stock is guaranteed when orders are placed.

‘As beer quality is the most important thing to any brewer, we are delighted to work with such a respected distributor as Beer Hawk on entering the world of refrigerated distribution,’ said Chris Beaver, channel controller, UK and Europe for Lion, which owns Magic Rock and Fourpure.

Further breweries are expected to announce their involvement in Beer Hawk Fresh in coming weeks.
