Pubs around the land are being invited to sing their way into being crowned the best Beer Day Britain choir, with the launch of the national beer day’s anthem Cheers To Beer.
All are encouraged to raise a glass and say 'Cheers to Beer' at 7pm, then post a video of the anthem being performed onto Beer Day Britain social media. ‘So far there’s a variety of musical genres being planned,’ said Beer Day Britain founder and anthem creator, Jane Peyton, Imbibe’s Educator of the Year, ‘from a harp accompaniment to a punk rock version’.
Vist the Day’s website to download the track, vocal score, lyrics and backing track, and use #BeerDayBritain when posting.
Other activities for this second annual Beer Day Britain include tours and tastings with brewers around the land, plus a special live online Beer Club at 8pm, hosted by pan-industry group There’s A Beer For That. Special beers have been brewed, a number of Thwaites pubs have organised mini-beer festivals, and a number of competitions are being run.
Beer Day Britain falls on 15 June, the day the Magna Carta was sealed, because beer was specifically mentioned in the original bill of rights.
‘The idea of Beer Day Britain is simple,’ says Peyton. ‘Drink beer, participate in Cheers To Beer at 7pm and send social messages [using] #CheersToBeer. Join in the party and make Beer Day Britain the best beer fiesta in the world!'
