Berkmann adds Rhône producer Ferraton Père & Fils to the family

07 March 2018

Berkmann Wine Cellars has been busy offloading and acquiring since its tasting last month.

Today comes the news it has welcomed Ferraton Père & Fils into the fold. It’s quite a coup, as it’s the first time the Rhône producer has appointed a sole distributor in the UK.

Founded in 1946, the business has expanded under Michel Chapoutier’s guidance since he bagged a stake in the business in the late 1990s. The champion of organic and biodynamic farming remains independent to this day.

‘Across numerous appellations, Ferraton offer a stellar range of poised, delicious, evocative wines,’ Berkmann purchasing director, Alex Hunt MW, said.

‘With a strong sustainable streak and consistently excellent value, theirs is a winning proposition, and an ideal fit with Berkmann Wine Cellars. We are thrilled at the opportunity to help these terrific wines become better know.’

Ferraton sales director Patrick Rigoulet is equally bullish: ‘We are delighted to consolidate our UK sales under one distributor, especially one with such a distinguished history and a portfolio of like-minded, top-quality wineries from around the globe. We look forward to developing our brand together in this important market.’

The deal will take effect from 1 April.
