Scottish craft brewery BrewDog has reported it grew turnover to £45m last year, a 52% increase on 2014, with UK sales up by 130%.

Flagship beer Punk IPA grew at 127.4% in on-trade during 2015, with the company shipping the equivalent of 41 million bottles of beer during the year. Over the past five years, the brewer and pub operator says it has achieved an average annual growth rate of 69%, and an average annual operating profit growth of 112%.

BrewDog co-founder, James Watt said: '2015 was a great year for BrewDog in and of itself, but it was also about laying the foundations for the next five years of growth. We built an amazing new brewery in Ellon, increasing our capacity there five-fold, and we also started building an amazing new brewery in Columbus, Ohio. At the start of 2015 our total annual capacity was 160,000hl. By the end of 2016 our total annual brewhouse capacity will be 1.5m hl.'

BrewDog also launched a fourth round of its crowdfunding scheme Equity For Punks in 2015, which is set to close in April 2016. It has raised over £20m since 2010 through the scheme, which sees investors offered discounts in the brewer’s bars, and an invite to its AGM among other benefits. It is set to launch a US crowdfunding scheme in May to support is new Ohio brewery, taproom and visitor centre, which will create 124 jobs.

It opened 17 new venues in 2015, including bars in Brussels, Rome, Hong Kong, Brighton and Soho, totting up 45 craft beer venues globally. New openings for 2016 include sites in Amsterdam, Warsaw, York, Berlin, Homerton and Dalston, the latter featuring eight pilot brew kits to allow customers to create their own beer to take home.

BrewDog’s full results will be announced at the end of February.
