The Champagne house's new cuvée is made entirely from Pinot Noir, the 'pillar' of Bollinger's style

Bollinger PN VZ15 has also been designed 'to express [the house's] unique vision of this specific grape variety'. This is the first addition to Bollinger's permanent range since the 2008 launch of Bollinger Rosé.

‘This cuvée made entirely from Pinot Noir is ingrained in what has become the very essence, the DNA of our house – an inimitable vision of an iconic grape variety and uncompromising efforts to fulfil the mission we started in 1829 as creators of taste,’ explained Charles-Armand de Belenet, general manager of Champagne Bollinger.

Bollinger PN VZ15 is the first expression in a new series of special releases aimed at showcasing the cru of the Champagne's base wine. With Bollinger PN VZ15, the Champagne house meant to 'explore the unique interpretation of Pinot Noir from Verzenay 2015'.

According to Bollinger, the new cuvée 'opens with aromas of cherry stone, jam-infused fruit and dried fig. The rich, complex nose then develops towards toasted, baked notes as well as aromas of elderflower and pear. On the palate, flavours of peach and apricot are enhanced with hazelnut and acacia blossom notes'.

A small proportion of Pinot Noir from Aÿ, Bouzy and Tauxières was added to the base wine made from Vezernay's 2015 vintage. The oldest reserve wine is from 2009.

Bollinger PN VZ15 is the house's second blanc de noirs into its core range, alongside its renowned cuvée Vieilles Vignes Françaises.

The Bollinger range is available through Mentzendorff at at an RRP of £80.
