Chapel Down launches gin and vodka

Yes you heard us right, England’s leading wine producer Chapel Down is launching a vodka and a gin, and they’re made from grapes picked in the winery’s 2016 harvest.

Using distilled Chardonnay grape skins, the vodka is said to have been developed to reflect the delicate flavour profile of its wine counterpart, and is developed at the Chapel Down vineyards in Kent. Chapel Down describe it as having citrus and floral aromas leading to a smooth, creamy palate. We’d love to try it in a Vodka Martini.

Chapel Down Bacchus Gin is produced from distilled (you guessed it) Bacchus grape skins infused with juniper, coriander, elderflower, orris, angelica, lavender, orange peel and lemon.

‘We see a significant opportunity ahead in super-premium spirits for Chapel Down,’ managing director Mark Harvey, said. ‘We have chosen to develop products with a simplicity of style that we think will cut-through the competing noise in these high-growth segments.

‘Our winemaker has developed products that faithfully reflect the balance and refreshing taste profile of the grape varietals from which they are made. After two years in development we are now excited to share these new spirits with the growing congregation of Chapel Down fans!’
