Chelsea Bailey from the Red Light bar in Bristol is celebrating after winning Monkey Shoulder’s Ultimate Bartender Championship.

Bartenders from across the UK were put through their paces and quizzed on everything from pouring and nosing, to stock take and tray service.

Regional heats in six cities attracted more than 100 bartenders and the very best went through to the final. Competition was said to be intense but when all the dust had settled and all the liquid nitrogen had cleared, Bailey was on top.

Monkey Shoulder, the Scotch whisky brand named after the condition workers developed when flipping barley for a long time, said she has the 'skills to pay the bills'.

Her prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to New Orleans for Tales of the Cocktails.

'There is no doubt that it was a hard-fought battle, but it is amazing to see Chelsie win for the UK and head off to Tales of the Cocktail this Summer. It’s going to be epic,' Grant Neave, described as Monkey Shoulder brand amBADASSador, said.

'UBC is intended to challenge the best bartenders across the UK, and the stiff competition this year proves that it is doing just that.'
