Italian vermouth brand Cinzano has revealed its full Cinzano 1757 ‘premium’ range, which comprises of three small-batch, handcrafted vermouths.
You may have already seen the 1757 Rosso, which is out in the UK market, but a Dry and Bianco will join it in the new year.
Cinzano 1757 Dry (18% abv) has predominant salty characters with some bright citrus flavours and a drying bitter background, all wrapped up in a big herbal bow with plenty of rosemary. It did good service in a reverse gin Martini, with its pleasing savoury characters.
The 1757 Bianco (16% abv), meanwhile, has a more contemporary profile, with predominant elderflower characters underpinned with bitter wormwood and cinchona bark to balance the sweetness. The brand recommended serving this over ice with soda water and lemon zest.
Finally, the 1757 Rosso (16% abv) is like the original Cinzano Rosso, but ‘with bigger shoulders’, as brand ambassador Loris Contro said. Light-bodied and inherently bitter with bitter cherry, orange and a cooling menthol and anise character, this was brilliant in a no-holds-barred Negroni.
