London took home no less than eight gongs at this year's Spirited Awards, held at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans over the weekend.
London bars won six of the international categories, including Best International Restaurant Bar for Hawksmoor Spitalfields, Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar for Callooh Callay, Best New International Cocktail Bar for Oriole, and Best International Cocktail Bar for Happiness Forgets.
Hotel bars proved once again that they are one of London's biggest strengths, with the award for Best International Bar Team going to the American Bar at The Savoy, while Dandelyan took home the award for World's Best Menu.
Topping the list, though, was The Connaught Bar at The Connaught, which won both Best International Hotel Bar and the coveted World's Best Bar.
Meanwhile, Angus Winchester was awarded Best Bar Mentor, while The Dead Rabbit received the prize for Best New Cocktail & Bartending Book for its Drinks Manual: Secret Recipes and Barroom Tales from Two Belfast Boys Who Conquered the Cocktail World. And perhaps unsurprisingly, Stiggins' Fancy Plantation Pineapple was awarded Best New Spirit or Cocktail Ingredient.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given posthumously to Sasha Petraske.
'With this being my last year as chairman, it was a very special Spirited Awards for me. And, of course, the industry did not disappoint with such strong nominees in every category,' said Simon Ford, Spirited Awards chairman. 'Congratulations to the winners. You absolutely earned this honour.'
